Model Railroading > President George H.W. Bush's memorial N-scale layout

This layout was professionally built, sponsored and paid for by Union Pacific, for the
George Bush Memorial Library in College Station, Texas (on the campus of Texas A&M Univ.). 
It is fully automatic and has four separate loops, two lower level and two upper level,
using top grade lumber throughout and Kato track.  There are round plexiglass tubes that
fit in the round holes so that one can enter the layout in the middle and pop up inside
the clear tubes (tubes not installed yet). A push button starts the trains and after 5 minutes
the layout times out and shuts down until the button is pushed again.


The Library decided it really didn't fit in as it did require some maintenance, and donated it to
a small museum in Crockett, Texas, but they decided they didn't know anything about it and donated
it to our Texas State Railroad society museum in Palestine, Texas. We have a rather large 25'x50' HO
layout that was also donated and just now have it all put back together after moving it from Dallas,
so next we will concentrate on this N-scale layout. I would not show this off yet but since this is
Bush week due to the great man's passing, I thought I would share this.

Not there today, but approx 8' x 8'.

However immaculate and professional it is, it still requires a good old fashioned track and wheel cleaning to prevent stalling every week or two.

Glad your folks are able to save this layout and it appears to have a lot of potental for scenery. I wish your group well and many years of enjoyment. '
Our club here in Cheyenne is waiting for the new space to open up so we can set the Cheyenne & Green River back up, somewhat modified for the reduced space.
