What locomotives would you like to see manufactured.
Author: TS735

In keeping with an annual New Year Trainorders tradition, I’ll go ahead and kick off the thread of “What would you like to see manufactured?” Let’s keep this one about locomotives and I’ll start a separate thread for rolling stock (or “cars” if you prefer. Be sure to state your scale.

My wish in HO scale:
For diesels -state of the art G.E. 44 and 70 tonners.

For steam -a small Baldwin 2-6-2.

A wider variety of chop nose geeps. Mold work could be a big problem, though, since so many chop nose jobs were done by individual shops with unique designs.

But some designs were pretty widespread, maybe something like Paducah geeps, where there were hundreds done?

I do like the list idea and also fully appreciate and thank all of the manufacturers of their dedication to the hobby and love the current line of products available. Never dreamed it would be so detailed and such a great list of available products today.

SC-44 seems like it should be on the list, but I think several people are already planning one
Maybe some RTR slugs.

Have to be honest, while not everything has been done, it is getting harder and harder to find stuff that hasn't been done.

There is a big need in rosters from mid-1970's to 2000, and further in some cases, for HO scale Dash-7 GE's.

From what I see in my notes, the C30-7 is 67' - 03" in length, with trucks 54'-6" apart on center, and the C36-7 and C30-7A match these numbers.  Several different cabs, two different truck styles, and rearranging the long hood features on a common frame would create:

C36-7 - never produced in plastic in HO scale, two major carbody phases painted for UP, NS, MP, CR
C30-7 - Atlas did a nice model in the early 1990's, but nothing since, never with sound.  BN, ATSF, CR, UP, several leasors, several short lines.
C30-7A - never produced in plastic in HO scale.  3 CR paint schemes, NS, CSX repaints.

If someone does this well, I will need a new mortgage.  LOL  :-)

Export locomotives that were widely produced like the EMD G8, G12, G16, G22, and G26. I'd be especially interested in a G26CW, which is like an export SD40-2.

HO scale: On a personal level I'd especially like additional phases of the GP40.  A WM chop nose Geep would be nice as would a GP39 and more NW2 variants.  Though it doesn't affect me, I'm still waiting to see an E44.  Limited paint schemes but I firmly believe the market is there.

EMU power chassis of various lengths. Commonly available from Japanese manufacturers (Kato, Green Max, Tomix), but not easy to get here without Ebay.
I guess not much of anyone here likes rapid transit and electric commuter rail models.

High hood GP20's (GN)
and Ditto on the GP30's. I know Walthers has made them, but someone needs to do a production run covering all the missed out roads!
