I applaud a newcomer, but theres been more then enough of this lately. Date: 01/03/19 16:19 Re: SDL39 Models Author: MojaveBill Vaporware has been around for decades, unfortunately.

Date: 01/03/19 17:49 Re: SDL39 Models Author: x3985 If I remember correctly, tons of people were complaining how we should have domestic production of scale models.
Some, I believe, said they would buy it regardless of the higher manufacturing and retail costs. Genuinely curious to see the quality and how much these would sell. Date: 01/03/19 18:20 Re: SDL39 Models Author: icancmp193 I might be interested but a model of a prototype of which only 10 were built could be a tough go.
TJY Date: 01/03/19 18:22 Re: SDL39 Models Author: MC6853 Thank god I don't need SDL39s... $350 for no sound or DCC?? I know everyone always preaches the "buy American" mantra (and look how well that's working with GM lately, with factories closing and people out of work anyway), but those dizzying prices help justify why so much stuff is made in China these days... I know I'll get massive flak for this post but no plastic DC soundless HO diesel model is worth $350, IMHO...
Posted from Android Date: 01/03/19 18:24 Re: SDL39 Models Author: BCutter The prices shown on the site's Shop page would give me pause -- even the price for the Undec DC! Good thing this item will never be on my wish list.
Bruce Date: 01/03/19 18:41 Re: SDL39 Models Author: fbe OK, I am a serious MILW modeler. I might actually spend $350 each for 2-3 quality SDL39 units. I have investigated numerous methods of kitbashing one of these units finding parts and labor would easily exceed $350.
Works for me but not a practical foundation for a start up company. Date: 01/03/19 20:08 Re: SDL39 Models Author: RuleG Interesting that this locomotive was mentioned by several who responded to the thread started earlier today about which locomotive models TO members would like to see produced.
I like the idea of having a short-wheel based six axle diesel for a smaller layout, but the price is a bit steep. Perhaps it should also be offered in Wisconsin Central's attractive scheme to be appealing to more modelers. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/03/19 20:12 by RuleG. Date: 01/03/19 20:59 Re: SDL39 Models Author: WSOR506 Even though there were only 10 SDL39's produced, there were at least 7 different paint schemes applied to the group over the years:
-Milwaukee Road with no lettering -Milwaukee Road with lettering -Soo Line/Milwaukee patch -Wisconsin Central/Milwaukee patch -at least 3 WC paint variations Rich Kundert Tuscumbia, AL Date: 01/04/19 06:54 Re: SDL39 Models Author: SPC Can’t figure out what you folks are reading that makes you imagine the plan is to manufacture these in the USA.

See this thread over at the Atlas Rescue Forum: http://atlasrescueforum.proboards.com/thread/7207/new-manufacturer-sdl39 Date: 01/04/19 07:34 Re: SDL39 Models Author: SPC Still don’t see anything on the site saying they’re domestically made. Someone does ask the question on that forum and then it goes off the rails, just like this thread.

SPC, Can you see the black and white photo of Milwaukee #582 at the top of the Lines West Products web site? Do you see the "Preorder" button? Below that do you see the "Made in the USA" in white bold overlay over the front truck of #582? I'm not sure if that is visible to those using cell phones to try to look at the page but it is certainly visible to those using computers. Date: 01/04/19 08:17 Re: SDL39 Models Author: SPC You’re right. It’s listed there in plain sight. Don’t know how I missed that =oP

Date: 01/04/19 11:53 Re: SDL39 Models Author: brfriedm I applaud this guy trying to make something happen. I have seen plenty of people fail and plenty of people succeed trying to get a product to market. It takes a special person. I wish him luck. Ashame so many comments trashing this guy and his efforts. Good luck to him!
