You know what that little ship icon on the right means right?

Mid-March is the expected arrival time based on the last ST news letter emailed.  Here is the excerpt.

"We expected the congestion at the Port of Long Beach to improve after Christmas.  However, it has worsened.  The container filled with HO Tier 4 GEVo locomotives arrived stateside January 24th and has not moved since.  We have tried everything possible to divert from rail to truck but have been unsuccessful.  We’re hopeful the container will still arrive this month.

Due to the challenges with the previous two shipments, we’ve routed the SD40T-2 through the Port of Savannah (Georgia).  If all goes as planned, the “Tunnel Motors” will arrive by mid-March.For additional delivery dates, visit our website."

I"ve noticed there are no "factory" icons next to anything.  Weird.

Cheers Jim

I see MB Klein are blowing out the latest Athearn tunnel motors. And others will try to rid their inventory too.
Looks like ScaleTrains will be the leader here!

My best guess would be they are between production, or trying to start a trend of announce and release items at the same time. Tangent and others have started doing this, and Scaletrains.com may be jumping on this trend.

The sound units are $259.99, non-sound $169.99 per ST website

The Athearn sound equipped DRGW tunnel motors seemed to sell well.  I believe they sold out of them before the MAP price expired.  But this is the first time Athearn has offered SD40T-2's with DCC/sound to be fair.  The SP versions seem to be moving more slowly although those are good prices. The non-sound units are now at discount prices we saw a 4 or 5 years ago/

ScaleTrains is definitely going to dominate in many area's including the tunnel motors.  I would like to see them offer a diffinitive SD45; that would be a major hurt on my wallet.

Jack, I've noticed Tangent and ExactRail now announcing models after they have finished their production overseas and are "on the water", usually a week or few weeks before available to order.  I haven't seen indication ST is going that direction also, but who knows.

Cheers, Jim

I have 5 Scale Trains 40T-2s on order, but I am still holding my breathe a little bit.  They do have a new drive system, that is somewhat of an unknown still.

You should have no worries. Just ran one of their new Dash 9's on the club layout yesterday. Pulled 32 hoppers up grades solo with no sweat, and it's heavy as a brick.

I expect they should be very good.  I know this one has been a work of passion by Paul Ellis.

I've got 3 on order myself.  I don't have very many sound equipped engines and this will be my first with Loksound.

Cheers, Jim

Its more of the hidden drive engineering for the rear truck and how all of that works, whereas the -9's have your traditional style of drive.

I think he meant those 14-20 yr old ladies working behind the counter in the soda fountain at the corner drug store they knew who was going to spring for double malt and double chocolate for the extra charge. Least that's what I thought.

Somewhat ironic that to speed delivery they are trying “to divert from rail to truck but have been unsuccessful.”

Now come on Liz...   What's gross about expensive restaurants, candy, flowers and diamonds? (And the billions that will be spent just this week)
Oh, oops, I forgot about cheating girlfriends/wives, back-stabbing, 70+ pairs of shoes, unwarranted mistrust, and eventual divorces... Yes, those are really gross.
I've watched over a half dozen fellow modelers lose their trains (and bank accounts) in divorces where they did nothing wrong...
Some were divorced simply because they paid too much attention to model trains...
So most guys know EXACTLY what SD40T-2 was speaking of... and it isn't those gross gals of the oldest female occupation.

Thanks CSX 602 for saying it right and getting it right.  'Very much appreciated.  I guess I should have been more descript from the outset, so that we couldn't take this into the gutter.  It was completely unnecessary to for anybody (including the great Elizabeth) to take it there.  Let's be respectful.  Let's be optimistic.  Let's assume that we all have the light-hearted and the most positive intent in our posts before we assume that the person making the post is full of ill will, or perversion, or whatever you want to dream up.

So back to the point... Scale Trains SD40T-2s rock!  My wallet is going to be emptied in March therefore...

Cheers, Mark

When will ST (or anyone for that matter) do 1990s versions of SP and Rio Grande SD40T-2s with ditchlights and plated-over Gyralights? Athearn did a few SP ones like this years ago but not DRGW... Still eagerly waiting for those...

I imagine in time ST will eventually do latter day second hand owner versions and patch ditch lighted which IIRC didn't appear until around 93 or 94, after a couple runs of the core versions from the classic era. Patience grasshopper.
