Model Railroading > Kaslo Shops SF30C

There were rumors that a Santa Fe SF30C resin shell was coming out from a company called Kaslo Shops.  Has anyone seen these or is this project another model railroading mirage?  I suppose it is an easy enough project, but laziness on my part
cannot be underestimated these days. lol

Kaslo Shops is reliable and I've seen their products on many forums.

'This is the AT&SF Locomotive Shell Pre-Production. This kit will be moving to full production and shipping likely by January 2018. The shells are designed to be used with the Atlas U30C or U33C Chassis.'

Looks like Kaslo copied the original Atlas cab with the windows all lined up.

January 2018?

Maybe we can get lucky and Athearn or Scale Trains will do them.

Do a search for Kaslo SF30C here on TO , it goes back to about 2004, the last time the subject came up I was like WT? that thing still has not come out and did a search, time flys...........

Oops. I'm still not used to being in 2019. Thought it was this year. My bad.

I wish Scaletrains would come out with older GE's, but they never seem to do well in the marketplace, so I won't hold my breath.  It would sure be sweet, though.  Hope springs eternal, though....

Since the SF30C's were a Santa Fe only locomotive I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it.

Many of the SF30C's ended up in lease fleets.

A couple even made it up to Canada, they ran on the Savage Alberta Railway northwest of Edmonton. I never saw them up there, but caught them on their way south through BC after CN took back the branchline.

If I recall at the time they were in a blue and yellow paint scheme, lettered for Livingstone Rebuild Center running on LRCX reporting marks.

Well, unless Rapido takes a liking to them, I still wouldn't hold my breath. Too specialized.

It would be interesting to know where this project stands, considering some of us paid in advance for the shells.

No. The person who is one of the key facilitators of the project is a member of TO, and has posted multiple updates in the past. Was hoping they could offer up some info, so a bunch of us won't have to bother Kaslo with duplicate inquiries.

The SF30Cs are coming. There has been delays at the shop that does the casting -- they had to purchase a larger machine and integrate it into production.

Cab windows are fixed -- many improvements over the original test shots that are on the Kaslo web page. 

 

I'm curious whose cab was used as a starting point for the revised cab. Not many good GE cabs out there.
