Model Railroading > Livin' Large, in the Permian BasinDate: 03/11/19 17:21 Livin' Large, in the Permian Basin Author: WrongWayMurphy Fun meet in the nation's oil patch this past weekend. Drilling/fracking activity in West Texas is insane.
New to our group is this A-B-A set of T&P F7's - there is a gyralight in the nose of the lead F unit. This set of FT's debuted at Train Mtn last June, custom built by a local builder extrodnairre. Power is a John Deere diesel engine with hydraulic drive. Owner is ex-Santa Fe / BNSF employee., My rig St.L.S-W #669. All my cars are homemade, some built by me, a couple by others in our group, all made in Texas by Texans.. Date: 03/11/19 17:29 Re: Livin' Large, in the Permian Basin Author: WrongWayMurphy Roundhouse view of some steam present, these are all coal fired, as the good Lord intended.
Yes, the shop behind the steaming bays is a real roundhouse. F units perform a meet. Before you comment about the short pilot on the FTA unit, this one is experimental and will be re-fitted once all the bugs are worked out on the overall mechanism. Trainorders.com member TomSTP injects water into his boiler, ready to steam onward on his georgeous T&P ten-wheeler. I thought the law in question was it was legal to drive your pickup and drink a beer, as long as you weren't over the legal limit!
