Model Railroading > RBOX's and a WaffleDate: 03/17/19 09:27 RBOX's and a Waffle Author: Jimmies Here's a look at a couple of weathered Railbox cars with the logos ghosted out. They were done for a client. And also a lightly weathered waffle box that I'm keeping.

I'm curious as to what Jim has to say, but I also know that Precision Design Co in Canada has six different ghosted RBOX decal sets and Circus City Decals in WI also has a couple of sets. I first used MicroSol to remove the original lettering, and then as Mike in Co alluded to, applied PDC decals. There are markings on the decal sheet to indicate where to cut them in order to fit the Intermountain cars, although I did have to do just some very minor extra trimming. I appreciate the comments, and my thanks to all for looking. I picked 3 of those models before they went out of stock as they were pretty common on that train.

I was considering all kinds of crazy masking with vinyl cut by a Cricut machine. Applying decals is more within my skill set. ;-) Date: 03/20/19 20:34 Re: RBOX's and a Waffle Author: Hookdragkick In the words of Spicoli, "those are some tasty boxcars". Real good job, sir. Did you leave some of the original black lettering behind, or did you paint on over the decal to mimic that?
Date: 03/21/19 07:24 Re: RBOX's and a Waffle Author: Jimmies tmotor - the Precision Design decals are really nicely done. The are very thin though, so handling them after trimming can be a little tricky. And as I mentioned, the trimming itself can require some extra care so that they fit correctly. As far as I know, they're made to fit the 5277 cu.ft. boxcar (Intermountain). However, I see no reason why they couldn't be used on some other boxcar, just using some different trimming.
Hookdragkick - yes, on both counts. On 31920 one bit of the original lettering didn't seem to want to come off so I left it, and on 37239 I stippled just a little bit of flat black over the new decal to simulate remnants of the original lettering. I appreciate the interest from both of you. Jim https://jssxrailway.blogspot.com Date: 03/22/19 22:33 Re: RBOX's and a Waffle Author: Hookdragkick Both techniques lend to a more prototypical look.
