Model Railroading > Warning, don't let this happen to you.Date: 04/13/19 14:30 Warning, don't let this happen to you. Author: retcsxcfm Also, this might be old information to some.
I just descovered it yesterday,by accident. Several years ago when Walthers started doing their LW passenger cars I bought several.I was amazed at the engineering that went into the models. They used what I call a skelton frame and added "pop off" roof, sides and ends.Great.Easy to work with for kit-bash work. Sometime later they came out with the Mainline Models. They made some I liked and they were close to my needs,so I bought some for later work. As mentioned the time to add interior details came. I tried every known way to remove the roof.I did the so called "twist and bend" to no avail. Not to be out done,I said the roof must come off. WELL,to my surprise it did, after I nearly damaged the car. MORAL.Because these cars were not built like the first ones (IE no skelton) EVERY part is glued together! No way to get them apart without damage. Uncle Joe Seffner,Fl. Date: 04/13/19 19:29 Re: Warning, don't let this happen to you. Author: PHall The Walthers instruction sheet that came with my Walthers Mainline cars said to use the twist method.
Even included a link to a video showing how to do it. Date: 04/14/19 12:15 Re: Warning, don't let this happen to you. Author: wictl Here is how I open my WalthersMainline passenger cars.
