Let's see your gold spike
Author: santafedan

It is hard to believe I began the layout 30 years ago.  This may not be a 150th year celebration.  But, it is a celebration none the less.
I did a "formal" gold spike ceremony when the mainline was complete.  Later the railroad put up a monument to that occasion.
I have put some gold spikes on other layouts I have worked on.

Let's see your gold spike.

From December 7th, 2001.  It was quite the event.

With that much help your layout must have moved along nicely.

What a clever idea! Very enjoyable thread, even though I haven't been an active modeler since the day Santa Fe hired me into train service (May '78)...

Good  thinking by the Supervisor to get those sheets of plastic for the crew to stand or kneel on so as to protect them from all  the fresh creoslte.
Nice wolrk!

Who's watching that third track for other traffic?   Is someone flagging trains by on that third track?
