Blue Foam Mountains - Part 11, now it's looking like a layout!
Author: MrMRL

Continuing from part 10, some 6 months back!!!
https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?3,4657674

I'll leave the comments to a bare minimum. Most folks should have a general idea what's going on here, if not... search for the "Blue Foam Mountain". In short, the past 6 months have included backdrop painting in the form of sky, wispy clouds, more mountains. The 3D mountains received basic color, ground cover, and beginnings of bushes. All the track has been ballasted. The paintwork and ballast has progressed beyond the secniced aisle around the big bend. And finer details are finally beginning to take shape including roads, structures and bridge details. The entire Canyon Siding scene is roughly 25-30' deep and about 7-8' wide.

36 pics to follow, starting with late 2018 paint work, and progressing through the Winter 2018-2019, right on up to just a couple days ago towards the end.  observant photo spotters have already been seeing pics of mine from various points along this large scene...

Some of the super wide angle shots may appear a little choppy, that's the iPhone panorama editing software at work.

Did you have an operations purpose for the double siding at that location?

Canyon Siding is basically the halfway point between the layout’s double-tracked lower level, and the single-tracked upper level return loop. It is kinda surprising to me how often we end up having 3 train meets along Canyon. The 2200-2300’ siding lengths allow for 35-40 car trains plus 3-4 diesel motors to clear for those inevitable 50+ car monsters some of us just love to struggle with.

Should be some "interesting" signal installations at the ends of the sidings.
Prayers for whoever has to wire it!

Amtrak: part the seas lol. This operation is getting too real... sigh. On a serious note, great job MRL, go big or go home.
