Off the Workbench
Author: Jimmies

I first posted this building that I've been re-building a couple of weeks ago.  Well, it's finally finished up and has made it's way back to it's rightful place on the layout. The structure is just under 50 inches in length.

All of the old failed glue joints were cleaned up and re-glued and reinforced, the wood frame across the back was re-built, and the roof done over again with a variety of vents and stuff added.  Acros the front of the structure I've put on some piping and conduit, and blanked out a bunch of individual window panes to try to simulate replacement panes of fibreglass.   The track spur is now code 83 and it's ballasted, with weeds growing and litter scattered along the way.  I also made up about 44 inches of chain link fence to run along the property line and attached No Trespassing signs to the fence.  Everything is attached to a piece of MDF so that I could move it around a bit without fear of it being damaged (ie falling apart on me).

I have plans to get to work on the foreground of this area shortly.  Well, hopefully anyway.

Mighty fine.  Sometimes it just takes details and sometimes lots of details.

Excellent workmanship! The amount of detail and attention you put in really gives the building a general appearance of a 40+ year old industry. Very well done!!

That looks just like a PPG building that used to be in Terre Haute, IN, along the Wabash River and NYC, then Conrail now CSXT trackage that might be gone now as well.

Now that's a proper building to dwarf those boxes. Well done!

Excellent. At my age the fastest way to populate a layout the size of the 2019 PC  is one of two ways...

1. get someone to help build new ones (my girlfriend is excellent at that part)
2. find some "repairable" structures and update/upgrade them... (my specialty)

That structure looks quite good...nice work!
