James R.(Jim) Baker Whittier, CA Date: 07/22/19 00:36 Re: a prototype for every thing . . . Author: SP4360 We did that years ago with some tri-levels on the Port Hueneme bacse for Mazda. The crew shoved back blind to get a switch, the last 5 cars going through a spring switch. Well, the yard being on 13ft centers from the old days wer no problem for a trilevel to straddle, so off they went, down two tracks and through the other end of the lead, no harm, no foul. Just another day on the VCRY

If there was no damage to the equipment, would this be a reportable accident/incident? Date: 07/23/19 09:25 Re: a prototype for every thing . . . Author: Kimball Regarding possible equipment damage: I wonder if being able to survive running on two standard spaced parallel tracks would be a Design Requirement for the engineers on such cars? There has to be some spec. for truck/coupler swivel, etc., why not this situation?
