Model Railroading > 5-Bay Ortner ITGX Holly Sugar Beet Cars

Hi All,

If I remember correctly, I  think there was a discussion on the N scale sugar beet cars.  I thought I would post a couple of my HO 5 Bay sugar beet cars.  One car is the Athearn undec. RTR  5-Bay Ortner I found on E-Bay.  The other one, is the old MDC/Roundhouse car.  Two of my RR friends, detailed, custom painted, decaled and weathered the cars.  It was a team effort, I just gathered the bodies, parts and decals over the last 20 years! The easy part? :-)  I am working with one of the guys to finish the cars!  For those wondering,about what I used to represent the sugar beets, pomegranate seeds. R

Darby Rail Services has branched out into beet service. Those steel cars cooked the hell out of those beets. Nice job on fabrication of the extension by Bardwell locomotive works!

Those look great, will need those for my layout someday.

I don't know how to make this a new thread in Model Railroading but I'd like to revive it there.

Would not a kit for the Ortner car extensions be a perfect Shapeways project?  A simple 4 part
kit of two side and two ends would do one car. I think several of us would but these in multiples
as trying to hand construct these would be very tedious (esp. for multiples)

As an aside I would consider buying one of the N scale ones if someone has the skill take that
kit up-size it to 1/87 and make it into a Shapeways project.  Would anyone else find this interesting?
