painting caboose hand rails/grabs - suggestions?
Author: tomd

Just about finished the Kasgro, KRL 079 caboose.

Need suggestion on holding the grab iron & hand rails.

I did the artwork for the custom decals and Bill at PDC.ca printed them for me.

I used to press my separate hand rails into a piece of balsa wood to act as an anchor.  I would then prime and paint twice by hand to get desired results.
Will look good behind a Schnable or even a heavy duty depressed center flat car.

That is the plan to have it behind large flat cars and schabel cars.  I have multpile of both.

I have also painted wthat wil be KRL 075 a couple cab, and four more private owner cabooses to paint and decal. One of those will be the GEGX cab that will accompany the GE gas turbine depressed flat.

I love your website!  I install thehandrails and then slip a scrap of paper under the handrail, over the body and using a fine paint bruch, paint them. try it!
This only works if they are seperate pieces.

Sometimes a fine tip micro-brush, the plastic sticks with the foam tip, works better for this, Less paint on the brush and no long ends or stray bristles to stick out.
