Model Railroading > HO Scale F unit Headlight lensDate: 09/02/19 20:21 HO Scale F unit Headlight lens Author: jburek Need a very thin headlight lens for Athearn F7 units. Any suggestions? Thanks.
JB Date: 09/02/19 20:38 Re: HO Scale F unit Headlight lens Author: fbe Walthers has a Diesel Dress Up Kit for F7, F9 units. Number 933-822 about $6. Includes all windows, lights and rails.
You might check Details West and Detail Associates. Date: 09/02/19 21:24 Re: HO Scale F unit Headlight lens Author: wabash2800 I assume you are referring to the original Athearn F7s and not the Genesis ones?
Victor A. Baird http://www.erstwhilepublications.com Date: 09/02/19 21:34 Re: HO Scale F unit Headlight lens Author: jburek These are orignal Athearn F7's. Making the headlights twin sealed beam & need thin clear plastic to fit just inside the headlight housing and cover the 1.5 volt bulbs. Lenses included in the Walthers detail kit are too thick - won't fit correctly.

It seems at one time that Walthers had a conversion chart in on MV lenses and what they fit. Maybe it can be found elsewhere.

Worked pretty good. Date: 09/03/19 05:32 Re: HO Scale F unit Headlight lens Author: jburek That sounds like it might work - did you have to file them some to get a good fit?
Date: 09/03/19 06:23 Re: HO Scale F unit Headlight lens Author: tomstp It will work just fine. Used a punch for years to put in steam engine headlights. A leather punch will work just fine and you can get them in different dimensions.
