Model Railroading > Close callDate: 09/03/19 16:44 Close call Author: WrongWayMurphy During a switching ops meet this past spring, a couple of HO guys dodged a bullet
by stopping my GP7 in the nick of time. It takes 4 men and a small boy to rerail the geep and had the engine proceeded another 6" in reverse, they would have been on hands and knees with a block and bar. Either we got a Brit in here or ... my wife says that too, but she was born and raised across the pond. Been there done that one time had one train on two parallel tracks guy thru the switch under a 12ft riding flat. Had engine and three cars on one track and the flat that split the switch and two other on the other track. Yes it happens too often. Boyd at Train Mountain
Date: 09/04/19 16:59 Re: Close call Author: santafedan We had a loaded ballast car off today....just another day at the track. We have an "A" frame witrh a pully system to get them back on the track. The car with it is always with the ballast train. We had a rookie engineer today.

Well then pay attention and inspect those points before you go over them. Your back will thank you! Date: 09/06/19 12:41 Re: Close call Author: Kimball Yes, saw this happen at OCME once, it tore up the timing belt drive on the loco. It was caused by letting just the front truck go past a spring switch before he stopped and reversed...
Date: 09/08/19 21:45 Re: Close call Author: SP4360 It happens to the best of us. Instaed of torn up timing belt, peel a rail instead. Ventura County Railway
