The Tortoise and the Hare
Author: WrongWayMurphy

A week ago today I was in Kansas City, running my newly overhauled Cotton Belt ten-wheeler.
I made a light lap around the track before hooking up to a rake of boxcars.  Good thing the
overhaul included brakework as I had to lock'em up coming around a curve, as a very slow moving
object was trying to cross the tracks.

Nice! From the title I thought it might have been a rece between an Athearn Hustler (rubberband drive) and a slow geared Hobbytown!

WOW!  You barely avoided a major derailment, but after the wreck cleanup you could have enjoyed some fresh turtle soup!

Something like that happened to me once at a So Cal desert track  I came around a turn in a cut and had to stop for a big stick laying across the tracks.  Just as I started to stand up to move it, it slithered off by itself!

One of those rubber-band powered Hustlers was my first diesel. First steam was Varney Docksider, modified later with a cab-forward casting!

Up at Train Mountain have seen a few two piece chipmunks and frogs.

I had a Varney diecast Docksider too. Good puller for a 0-4-0!
