Model Railroading > My New Railroad 2

Part of the concept of My New RR is that it take up as little real estate as possible in our relatively small mountain home (1200 Sq ft).    
When in use, the RR occupies the "airspace" over the stairwell (Think Pan Am Building in NYC).  It only intrudes into living space 2 1/2".  I am the tallest in the family and it clears my melon by about 4" when I go down the stairs.
When not in use, the RR disappears into it's Hidy Hole.  See the pillow down by the floor in the corner in Photo 3?  This covers a doorway I've cut in the wall (It will have an actual door soon) that allows the layout to slide into the attic space over the living room.  Close the door and it's gone!
It will spend Summers, while we're Down South sailing, secure from those who might otherwise find it an "Amusing Diversion".

The railing carries the weight- the polls act more as stabilizers.

Once it's it's wired and the switch machines are in, it will get end caps and a backdrop so nothing will go rouge.

Generally I don't name cats.  Usually they go by seniority.  At one time I had 3:  Kitty, New Kitty, and Old Kitty.
The current, photo kitty, is, "The One With Stripes".  She's curled up next to me as I write this..

5x15, 5x12, and 5x12.   Vertical, and inset just enough to protect the toggles from passers-by.

I really like the concept but...like some others... would think a more positive connection to the raili(ing) might be good.  Something like the wooden furniture clamps tthat are available.  BTW, I love Catzilla!  I assume she is filling either the TM or RFE role!

Thanks! It doesn’t really show in the photos, but the layout drops into a couple of notches and stops underneath. It can not slide in any direction. It has to be lifted straight up to be removed from the railing and, as noted in Part 1, it’s road hugging weight makes that unlikely to happen accidentally.
