The  Q,  after placement  on a curve, what to fill the voids with ? or do you  ? TIA,

I put sheets of plaster infused towls over the risers when I built my layout years ago. Worked out fine. I think the towls were also by Woodland Scenics .

From a structural point of view you don't need to fill the voids, they will support just about any HO train.  As shown, you can use the as the basis for fills or just build your scenery up to them.  I have used them in a number of places on my layouts for quite a while with no problems.
