Model Railroading > How to ID an Atlas ALCo S-2?Date: 11/14/19 09:04 How to ID an Atlas ALCo S-2? Author: BoilingMan I have an HO Atlas S-2 I want to convert to DCC with sound. I guess Atlas has changed their source for these locomotives several times, and it turn, the DCC set up is different too. How does one tell these apart? The only obvious marking I see on my model is "ATLAS CHINA" underneath the battery boxes on the bottom of the cast frame.

Author: jburek If you go to Soundtraxx or Loksounds websites they usually have recommendations charted for which sound decoders to use with specific models along with installation guidelines - very helpful. Used these instructions from Soundtraxx site to install a sound decoder into a Bowser VO1000 - similiar in size to an S2 in regard to available space. Good luck...
