Model Railroading > Carr's Hobby in Duluth, MN closing

Just learned that Carr's Hobby in Duluth, Minnesota is closing this month.  It has been in business for 60 years.

Darn, that was always a GREAT place to visit when I traveled up there. I will miss them. Hope a lot of their memorabilia ends up at the museum! === === = === JLH

Sad to hear but, it has become common in the last few years.

Whenever I travel, I try to visit local HO model train stores. I visited my brother when he and his family lived in Duluth and went searching for this store.  When I found it, it was like stepping back in time! A wonderful hodgepodge of models, accessories, etc from different eras! On-line stuff is okay but real brick and mortar stores are much more enjoyable.

Duluth was always a great place to visit. Carrs Hobbies, Northern Tool, Duluth Trading and a fine, well stocked camera store. It is still a place where there are a number of self supporting neighborhoods.

Model railroad shops and camera stores:  two businesses that are headed towards extinction.  I just got a new iPhone 11 Pro with an amazingly significant advance in photo capabilities.  The camera will probably meet or greatly exceed the needs and/or desires of 99.999% of the folks on the planet.

How much did that iPhone 11 Pro set you back?

Cant remember exactly, but around $1,000.00.  I bought it primarily for the enhanced photo capabilities.
