Model Railroading > SP SD9E #4402Date: 01/20/20 07:01 SP SD9E #4402 Author: funnelfan Well I was up all night working on this locomotive and a few other projects. I'm re-detailing the recent Walthers release of the SP SD9E #4402 as I saw and photographed it in the 1990's. I did wired a SMD LED into the beacon, but it won't be glued to my the scratchbuilt stand until I paint the stand. Still need to paint the details, add more lights and electronics.
The detailing phase is now complete. Here is what I did; Plated over the extra lights with scratchbuilt plates Plated over the rear number boards with styrene Plated over the footboards on the plow with then plastic Removed rear plow Moved front cut lever higher Added custom wire grabs to front plow Replaced drop step with one from older Proto2K unit (DA part was too wide) Added DW dummy MU sockets front and back Added DW 4-MU Hose all around, but clipped outer hoses Added DW disjointed brake pipe to the front, and simple brake pipe to the rear Added a DW Can Antenna on custom brass stand, both drilled for 0.020" wire that inserts into the shell for added durability Wired DW stratobeacon with SMD LED Created custom beacon stand drilled for wires for beacon and added to the rear of electrical cabinet hump Added custom wire grab to hold MU hoses on the rear Added 0.25" x 0.125" styrene block to the rear under the coupler to simulate a body feature. Removed cab windows with ugly cast on wipers, replaced with windows from old P2K unit. Added A-Line wipers Ted Curphey Ontario, OR Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/20/20 07:04 by funnelfan.
