Model Railroading > Looking for older Proto2000 E unit part

While overhauling a pair of older Proto2000 E8s, I accidently broke one of the plastic worm retainer clips that fits inside over the trucks.  Original part number was #584517.  Cannot find a corresponding Walthers part number (and understandably, have not been able to reach customer service via phone.)  Any suggestions on where I might obtain a replacement?  Actual description of part is:  "worm retainer clip with bottom retainer"  Thanks.

I wonder if a clip from an old Athearn Blue Box engine would fit.  They seem to be very similar, if not the same.  Just a thought.

Are you talking about the two channel
looking pieces that hold the gears in,
one longer than the other?

Walthers is not likely to provide the part you need nor even respond to your request. These days, once you get their model in your hand it is all your responsibility. They don't treat their retail dealers any better.
