I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that the artwork is wrong for the Berwicks, placing the trucks out at the ends of the 60' boxcars?

So happy to see the JKC Trucking scheme.    So for all the trailer roads announced, how many are foobies on the Utility reefer?

I'm curious why they decided to do the Long Runners in Trailer Train and then pair them with modern trailers.  The Long Runners were being built right at the Trailer Train to TTX change and the TT versions weren't particularly common.

Probably is wrong.  Athearn has run Bewicks for over 10 years in several runs (2009, 2014, 2017 and now 2020).  I expect they should be the same.  I've got DRGW, NW, ATSF and SP from the first run and MILW, SOU and MP eagle from the 2017 run.  AFAIK, they are all the same truck centers.

I Wonder about this also & it looks like they are not like the 1st Long Runners they did with one of the cars A end being wider then the rest of the car. The wider end is from the 1st Long Runners that were made in 1/1 scale.
Surprised that no TTX but could be patched.
Would really would like to have someone do Triple 57 or 53 flush deck Long Runners or just mix new & old Walthers/Athearn cars along with 48' Impact cars. The Impact cars were mentioned in one of the talks.

Sorry Athearn but is there anyone there who does quality control on these announcements?  BN 9745 is NOT a F9B but a F7B.  GN did have F9Bs (BN 845 to BN 853, odd only) but they were freight only.  So what is it..one of the former GN F9Bs in solid green (freight) paint scheme or a former GN passenger F7B in BN passenger scheme???

They do list BN 9745 as an F7B on their website.

It seems Athearn just keps releasing the same type of stuff just in different names and such.   Nothing really creative or new.   Just my take but I think Scale Trains and Tangent and some of the others are producing much better products

But they keep selling and that's what Athearn and Horizon want.

Being a bit selfish maybe but im glad after many years of hoping that they are doing the CNW units with the nose gong bell.

Exactly. I've said time and time again, Athearn could release monthly runs of Trinity 5161 grain hoppers lettered for BNSF with Wedge and Circle-Cross and cash out every single time! They routinely sell online for $50-$65 a pop!

Athearn is re-running a lot of past models true; two advantages.  One for Athearn is they can make money off of existing tooling which hopefully helps them fund new projects.  The other is for modelers who missed out on past runs of some models and now will be available again although at a higher price.  If the higher prices are an issue, one can always hunt down past runs on the secondary market too.

For some of us, Athearn's announcements may have little we need most of the time, and most of what I buy anymore is from Tangent, Intermountain and ScaleTrains, and also Moloco and Wheels of Time when they offer new items.  I'm particularly looking forward to the Wheels of Time straight taper SP bulkhead flat cars due out this summer finally.  Moloco also has some SP PC&F 50' boxcars on the way.

Back to Athearn - they still do offer models I need now and then.  The 4th run SDP40F's are of special note to me, as well as the new run of GP40-2's.  Hope springs eternal that Athearn will finally offer a D&RGW ICC wide vision caboose, although considering how well Rio Gande sells, I'm puzzled as to why Athearn is taking so long to announce them!

I wondered why the announced runs of the Fruehauf 40' Z vans have taken so long but have heard the A-line molds were worn out and are having to be replaced/re-cut, and eventually those trailers will finally be shipped.  I've got a bunch from past runs but could still fill in a few holes.  I do wish Athearn would run some late 40' trailer era versions, such as Preferred Pool, white BN, B&M, Rock Island, and a few others that could be seen frequently in TOFC consists in the 1979-1982 period before 45' trailers began taking over in ernest.

Another run of F-units may elicit yawns from many model railroaders, but if I decide to model the BN, an F9 in the hockey stick scheme would be of interest to me.

The grand majority of the locomotive road names in this relase have never been offered before.

As for "new" stuff, we've announced 3 new locomotives this year: SD80MAC, GP18, and Genesis P42DC.

What should we do to make better products?

Seems to me you've addressed three items by adding LED's, Tsunami 2's and better side frame power delivery. At least on the latest GP38-2, which is a gem.

And if you watch their online weekly videos, they do have brand new stuff in the works. They keep saying 'lots of GE locomotives coming'. Which sounds like some Genesis quality units and possibly completely new models and not just RTR upgrades. Obviously the SD70ACu's are planned, which I thought they'd be announced by now, as any announcement is still 12 months out before they are in our hands. And the SD90/43MACs are obviously going to be done, which can be a few runs was there are many paint schemes available now a days. And the phase 1, SD90MAC's will be run at some point.

While it does seem in general that announcements from the hobby are slow. With all of the 'required' pre-ordering now needing to be done (months/years a head), it seems like every month I have a notice of something to pick up. Which is good/bad on the wallet/planning of new stuff. I'm excited that new stuff keeps coming. It's a fun time to model.

And yes, pre-ordering is here to stay it looks like. The IM auto racks (in the past week to hit the streets) are apparently just about gone. And now pricey on bidding sites. (If you missed a Ferromex, they vanished already!)
