Model Railroading > Metal wheel questionDate: 06/28/20 19:18 Metal wheel question Author: mully I’m going to start replacing some of my old plastic wheels with metal ones and found 36’’ brass Intermountain wheels and Wathers silver.
Anyone have any experience or thoughts? Gary Posted from iPhone Date: 06/28/20 20:16 Re: Metal wheel question Author: ghemr I've had great sucess with IMR 36" semi-scale wheels. Part number is 40054 (12 per pack). No issues whatsoever!

Watch the "side-to-side" slop. Too much will affect free-rolling, coupler height and other truck performance issues. Date: 07/02/20 19:29 Re: Metal wheel question Author: SPDRGWfan dash944cw Wrote:

With Reboxx gone, who makes longer axle wheel sets if the Intermountain are too sloppy? The Proto plastic axle wheel sets are the smoothest rolling even in KD metal trucks.
