Model Power RS-2 questions

Anyone know when these engines were brought out?  Are they trouble free and run well?   Can motor?   Any information will be appreciated.

My experience with Model Power is that everything they ever made was 100% pure JUNK!  When I had my store, I would not sell their stuff.

There are many Model Power steam locomotives that are former Tyco/Mantua products, such as the 2-6-6-2/2-6-6-2T. Those weren't horrible models when Tyco/Mantua sold them. Have they suffered under Model Power ownership?
