New Trucks N' Stuff HO Amazon 53' trailers
Author: brfriedm

If you are a modern modeler, then you would probably need some of these new New Trucks N' Stuff HO Amazon 53' trailers that just shipped. They are labeled Great Dane 53' Dry Van trailers and they do have the air baffles. I am abit suprised that Amazon would allow this recreation as I had heard they were not allowing this so kudos to Trucks N' Stuff. They are very reasonable in price and I bought quite a few.  They look pretty good to me. Cheers  Bruce Friedman

Saw the ad recently and ordered from my normal dealer. Was too surprised that these are being done, but excited they are available for sure.

Nice trailers. I will have mine Saturday from my local "pusher" .Isn't Athearn supposed to come out with Amazon Prime  containers? Also I understand Athearn should be coming out with Prime Inc refrigerated 53' trailers. Can someone shed any light on this?

I thought Athearn mentioned the Amazon licensing was going to be cost prohibitive for them to run them. They want to, but last I recall, had not fully committed to them. Which hopefully will change.

I get why companies want to protect their brand, but for us modelers, you'd think they'd want to spread the word and get more free advertising.

We see the Amazon name & logo EVERYWHERE these days.  You guys find it appealing to see it on your layouts?  I'm so glad I collect stuff made in the USA, a long, long time ago.

There is also a "Prime Inc" trucking company as well as Amazon's Prime.

Prime Inc is not pleased about the very similar use of their name

Amazon prime uses lots of contract drivers, I am looking at such as offer now.

I remember when you built some using a "wrap".

Athearn has reached out to them but hasn't gotten a response yet (might have changed now), Scaletrains said for sure they won't be doing them cause of cost.

Got eight on their way to my shop.   Four are for me!    hehe.   I've also secured A-Line Budd wheel sets, as the real Prime trailers do not use chrome wheels.   It's an easy swap.

So if it's cost-prohibitted for Athearn to use Prime, how can Trucks N Stuff swing it?    These single trailers are very affordable.   The same can be said for Trainworx, which is bringing out ABF, SAIA, and other LTL names Athearn claims they cannot get the rights to.

Trucks N Stuff trucks/trailers are made by Tonkin. Tonkin is known to be a procurer (and enforcer!) of licenses and trademarks. I suspect the big names (Amazon, WalMart, Schneider, etc) that they do are negotiated at the Tonkin level.

Athearn probably still smarting over those unauthorized "Budweiser" trailers they did about 30 years ago <<<sarcasm>>>. I'm lucky to have one!

For those that want to do their own, Switch Line decals has Amazon trailer decals and they have Walmart also.

The Prime trailers from the Prime, Inc (not Amazon-was owned by IBP then Tyson I think.) group are the Prime Intermodal 53" reefers. I lobbied Chris P hard over these even making a quick video at a show to get them made-The Prime Inc trailers did ride the rails for a bit until specific intermodal marked trailers bumped them off. Athearn doing the Frozen Food express trailers makes me happy as well. Estes 53' smoothside trailers will make me VERY happy but I'll take what we can get. ABF's Im told are tough to license, although the diecast folks have done them in larger scales. These guys go by on every BNSF Z and Q train up here....along the Mighty Mississippi.
