Model Railroading > Help deciding on a modern O scale transformerDate: 07/30/20 07:40 Help deciding on a modern O scale transformer Author: RNP47 Fellow model railroaders... the time has come to bite the bullet modernize my transformer situation. I have read many favorable and a few negative comments on the Lionel ZW-L transformer and also have seen comments recommending the Z4000 transformer.
I'd like to go with my gut and get the ZW-L, but having made more bad decisions in the past than I care to count, I would like to hear from users of each to see what you might recommend. Thank you in advance. Bob Phelps Date: 07/30/20 08:15 Re: Help deciding on a modern O scale transformer Author: ATSF_Cliff I ran an original (250W) ZW for 20 years without a lick of trouble. Switched to a Z4000 about 12 years ago and again no issues. Since aquiring the 4000 I run mostly (95%+) DCS and the balance being conventional.
Never had a ZW-L so I can't comment. Cliff Rutherford Grain Valley, MO Date: 07/31/20 06:16 Re: Help deciding on a modern O scale transformer Author: RNP47 Thank you for helping. I am going to go with the Lionel ZW-L, despite it's high price.
