Substitute for genuine Balsa-Foam?
Author: Bscale316

It appears Balsa-Foam has been discontinued. I know there is styrofoam, green florists foam, blue insulation board, etc.
but would like to find sheets of a true replacement. A Google search shows lots of "foam" products but none seem to
be a true replacement.
Thanks for ideas.

What is balsa-foam, and what are its characteristics that make it so desirable?

Looking on Google it apprears that Balsa Foam is available from several sources including Walmart and Amazon.

It looks like AMACO is no longer a distributor (it's not listed on their website any longer) but I believe these folks are the actual manufacturers: http://www.americanfoamtech.com/foam/product-selection-guide/

Thanks for responses. Many (most) sources say out of stock or discontinued.
Hard to find the larger sheets compared to finding blocks.
Also smaller retail quantities.
Still working on it.
