Edit, checkout Brian Banna build on four undec SD45'S on YouTube. Very informative. Just found them. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/08/20 08:16 by dmaffei. Date: 08/04/20 21:58 Re: ST SD45 Undec Exploded view Author: dwatry Wow impressive! Have fun with it!

The plastic finish on the carbody sides, top and cab is very smooth. Do you think modelers will need to do any preparation to insure the paint will adhere? OK to go with acrylics or tru color maybe Scale Coat I or II? Thanks. Alan Date: 08/05/20 16:51 Re: ST SD45 Undec Exploded view Author: Chad You guys are better men than I.

Alan, The best prep for that would be to do a moderate blast with Aluminum Oxide in a blast booth. BUT, most don't have that luxury. I would say it would be fine with just scalecoat 2 without blasting at all as that is what I'm familiar with and have used on such surfaces. I personally like SC II for plastic, bur SC I is better on metal surfaces such as brass. SC I could possibly etch plastic. Hope this helps Date: 08/05/20 22:06 Re: ST SD45 Undec Exploded view Author: fbe Thanks, Dave.
I have a blaster to use. It is in my cool basement on these mid 90s days. Alan Date: 08/05/20 22:52 Re: ST SD45 Undec Exploded view Author: PHall I just clean the model with Poly S Plastic Prep with removes the skin oils and such.
Have had no problems with paint adheision after using it. Date: 08/08/20 19:27 Re: ST SD45 Undec Exploded view Author: sixaxlecentury Sort your parts, Gents.
Missing 2 steps out of mine. Not surprised. Every undec I have ever gotten has been missing something. Hopefully these dont take 6 months of excuses to get like Rapido. I do wish they came with even a basic exploded diagram. |
