It was PWRS, Pacific Western Rail Systems.

At this point there hasn't been a manufacturer announced. Both Athearn and Walthers have some parts to start from, and Athearn is ahead in that department (as well has having hinted at producing them) but nothing has been confirmed yet.

I have no affiliation with these companies.

I would speculate (because that's all it is, speculation). But I would assume Athearn would have their hand in it also since them have the majority of the parts already to make it a reality.

again... pure speculation.

It kinda reminds me of a train engine version of a Hummer.

Curious how this works out, our TrainOrders panel of experts poo-poo'ed this a while ago. Looks like a whole new shell, so it would be interesting to see who wants to invest in this.

Horizon Hobby / Athearrn invested in the old shells for what had been a limited number of prototype units for a limited time frame before they went into storage. It would be a curious indicator of what direction the big thinkers are going in. 'Not my era' though...

Oh... and then there's Kato....

A Hummer or a thousand may have come in handy on June 6, 1944.  However the Allies figured it out!

The SD70ACU will be done by Athearn. Athearn has said they will do all variations on the SD90/43MAC frame. Just takes time for them. PWRS also got the word from Athearn, that the units will be done. A bit of a leak too soon, but eventually. So NS units and CP units in all schemes. My 'guess' would be, the CP units would be in a few different runs, as that's 5 military schemes, 2 heritage schemes with 10 numbers total, and the reds. Not sure if there are variations on the red option or not.

I'm not sure what the order would be, but here's what's left:
- SD70ACU
- SD90/43MAC (many paint schemes available, possibly 8 or more?)
- SD90MAC Phase 1 (6000hp) UP (several numbers), 'Shamu'

Figure an announcement once a quarter, that with at least 2 runs of the first 2 of that list, that's another 18-24 months minimum of these. I could see a good 5-7 years of these and other versions on that long frame for Athearn. Seems like a good investment for them.

Just following the prototype.

I am glad to see them though they are too new for me.

Tyco is gone. Take some of those unspent hobby $$$$$ and spend them with Tangent, both companies names begin with a T.

😁
