Author: tomstp I used to go to the Santa Fe station at night in Ft Worth and listen to a pair of PA"s ideling (ka lunk, ka lunk, ka lunk) and wonder if the engines were going to die. They were used on the train to Brownwood/San Angelo.
And, it reminds me of a story told to me by Charles Mizell of his ride on that train. His aunt had died and he was taking the train from Ft Worth to Brownwood and on to Clovis to make connections with a train for Carlsbad NM for her funeral. A derailment on the Dublin sub made it necessary to re-route the train from Ft Worth to Temple and then to Brownwood and Clovis NM. Charles said it was a wild ride to Clovis at speeds between 90 and 100 MPH but they made it to Clovis on time for his connection. Date: 08/10/20 11:23 Re: Night time on the Santa Fe in 63!
