Model Railroading > 50 year old Kit-Bash Rat-Rail-Rod Like Thing!Date: 09/20/20 00:07 50 year old Kit-Bash Rat-Rail-Rod Like Thing! Author: RailRat Someone gave me (way back then) 2 N guage UP F unit body shells, so I though of a "What If" F mini yard switcher or something?
So I got busy with an exacto saw and stuff. This is the result. I used some electronic resistors for side tanks, aluminum foil for the headlight, and n guage wheels for the top exhaust. Never really completed the chassis or motor, but went crazy with the weather paint! I think this was a time in life when I was in transition between building plastic military models, plus model railroad, plus cars, back when my eyes could see things up close! Author: sp8234 Cool, In Australia they have double ended F/E units.
They were on like an SD9 frame & A1A truck. Originally they were called Bs with a 16, 567 & rebuilt to As with a 12, 645 Turbo. Tim Hanesworth Date: 09/20/20 15:09 Re: 50 year old Kit-Bash Rat-Rail-Rod Like Thing! Author: cabman And you're holding on to it....WHY?

Out of all the car, aircraft, ship, and military models I built, painted and customized in days gone by, as well as model railroads and engines and cars... This is all I have left, plus I made them. I'd hate to be a crewman awaiting to board while the loco is slowly moving. Rather than wearing a railroad cap a hardhat might better fit the situation. Your reply here made me think of a diorama with N guage railroad workers around it, all painted with yellow hardhats and safety vests/goggles on them, as this thing moves along the yard tracks!
