The real Southern Pacific, Cotton Belt, Golden West Service, and Arizona Eastern boxcars are very different than these 40' models.

The last Athearn product I bought was the UP4141 which is great

I’m not impressed with anything Athearn has announced

When it's in the Roundhouse line, don't rely on prototype fidelity.

It wouldn't surprise me if one of the newer, prototype-focused manufacturers produces SP's copper-anode high cubes at some point. I'm sure they've gotten requests. Despite my collection's eastern focus, I'd get some because those cars went to, among other places, a Phelps-Dodge plant in southern Connecticut that only just recently closed down.

Sure would be nice if Athearn would pay a little more attention to Santa Fe than just SP for western roads. I don't understand the sudden craze for Zebra strip GP7s. They seem to have completly skipped most everyone's favorite....The dress blues or "pin-stripped" scheme! I'd love to see a set of blues for the GP7 / GP7B set!

What are you trying to say here?

Athearn did produce Santa Fe GP7s/GP7bs in the pin striped scheme scheme in 2015.

I was curious as to why they are doing the UP Turbines. After the Scale Trains releases. Being a nerd accountant, I wonder how they will sell.

Athearn's are based on a different prototype than ScaleTrains'. Athearns are the single-unit "Veranda" turbines, while the ScaleTrains units are based on the 2-unit "Big Blow" turbines.

If I want to know if Athearn produced a locomotive in a particular paint scheme, I look it up on Athearn's website, not E-bay.

If there is an Athearn model I'd like to purchase, I will go to hobby shop websites or just search for the model on the internet without trying to find it on E-bay.

I remembered my SP and SSW car numbers wrong. The Athearn car is actually close for those two.

However, it is way off the Golden West Service, SP ex-GWS, and AZER cars

You say the GP7 A and B units in blue pin stripe came out back in 2015? That sure does me alotta good now seeing as I'm sure they ( Athearn ) was sold out before the damn things were even released! As for checking hobby shops? I don't have THAT much free time to call all over the country only to be told That item sold out years ago! So what's left? E-bay!   Oh, and as for the Athearn website? That's about as useless as tits on a bore hog!

Sometimes a long time can go by between runs of a same type. For example Athearn ran Genesis DRGW F9s around 2002. It was 18 years before they were rerun. Six years between Genesis DRGW GP40-2s. Sure it sucks if you miss out on a run and have no idea if/when they will be run again. What can you do? Ask for another run and in the mean time look where ever possible. Ebay, shops, Train shows when they resume, maybe ask on HOSwap wish list Wednesday.

The days of product sitting on a shelf somewhere are long gone, These days you have to plan your priorities ahead of time and when something you want is announced, be prepared to preorder. If you have to wait, you wait. Sad but true.

If you weren't aware the model was produced, then you have no basis for saying that you were "sure" that they were sold out before they were released.

Anyway, Athearn regularly makes announcements on new models at the end of the month.  Other TO members and I regularly make posts on these announcements.  If there are models which may be of interest to you, you can follow these announcements.

As for checking hobby shops? I don't
> have THAT much free time to call all over the

Please reread my post.  I never wrote anything about calling hobby shops all over the country.  I wrote that I check hobby shop websites through which I sometimes, not always, find models of interest.

That item sold out years
> ago! So what's left? E-bay!

What's left?  Train shows (as suggested earlier in this thread), placing a request in the TO classified section and joining and attending meetings of railroad historical societies which may sell models of interest at their conventions.

   Oh, and as for the
> Athearn website? That's about as useless as tits

How is the website useless?  I was able to use it to point out to you that Athearn did produce GP7s in the pin stripe scheme in 2015.  Now that you know such models were produced, you can try one or more of the suggestions provided by other posters and me to find the models.

Alternatively, you can hope that Athearn will produce another run of these locomotives in the pin stripe scheme.
