New Qdoba & Firehouse Subs (& now Starbucks) on the Cal Southern
Author: MrMRL

Just working on some more structures for the layout's (heavily under construction scenery wise) upper level city scene of Chester, on the HO scale California Southern Model Railroad Club layout. This round several Summit Customcuts styrene/acrylic modern city kits. First one installed (after 6 solid hours of work) today was their Modern Strip Mall (#ML-008).

More commercial enterprises going in on the California Southern

Currently on the impromptu work bench is a modern Starbucks (#ST-001). Still in the package is a modern Arco gas station (#GS-001). Soon to be purchased, possibly a Lowe's???

The kits basically all come as a stack of flat laser cut/etched, base/wall/roof sheets in white styrene, acrylic, or 1/64" wood. Everything has so far glued together very well with either styrene glue or medium CA. Some wall/window details have self adhesive backs. Paint is basically rattle can to match photos prior to assembly.  I feel the detailed contemporary logos are what really make these kits pop, some clean up, painting, and assembly required, but with patience, the end results speak for themselves. If only they produced an In-n-Out!!

Additional photos should be available later Wednesday after I complete more of the kits.

Hope the train crews don't get caught stopping there.  ;)

Starbucks has now been added to the evolving scene. Arco station will come next.

Man I wish there was a Firehouse Subs closer to work. I miss the Quiznos that used to be down the street. Heck, a Jersey Mikes near by would be welcome compared to the Subway near diesel serivice...

What?  No Taco Bell?  My uncle had a Taco Bell fanchise on Sepulveda Blvd in San Fernando Valley for 20 year and I've been eating it since age 7!

Very convnincing modern strip of shops!

Cheers,
jim

Summit has FOUR Taco Bells plus a TB drive-through. I've got an eighties version next to go on my workbench.
