Model Railroading > Drawings of Train Order StandsDate: 01/06/21 07:12 Drawings of Train Order Stands Author: trainnut7 Looking for drawings with measurements of train order stands for an HO layout. Thanks for the help.
Date: 01/06/21 07:27 Re: Drawings of Train Order Stands Author: wabash2800 I've been looking for them too. I would like to make an iron man and have two versions, one with the hoops up and loaded and one with them down--unloaded. That way, I could switch them as needed for photography. The circular holders could be perhaps made from soldered fine wire, but if someone like Tichy made them from a flexible plastic, that would be to scale and cool too. Be aware that there were various versions. Other than provided by suppliers, some were homemade. The Wabash had wooden stands but also had the steel "iron mans" with the circular holders. Many locations didn't use stands.
Sequoia Models made a kit in HO, but it's too clunky for my taste. The Wabash tower at Wolcottville, Indiana had a very short wooden step platform with two wooden arms that reached out from the tower and would lift up and down with short hoops attached. I wish I would have taken more specific photos. At New Paris, Indiana the operator had a platform and arms but at least one of the operators perferred to stand on the platform and hand up orders with a hand-held hoop. I do have a "short hoop" from an unknown Wabash location. Victor A. Baird http://www.erstwhilepublications.com Edited 5 time(s). Last edit at 01/06/21 12:29 by wabash2800. Number 3 is a lazer kit piece. I will post the finished kit next. Date: 01/07/21 05:32 Re: Drawings of Train Order Stands Author: santafedan The finished kit. I built this for another layout. I do not recall the name of the kit. It is photographed on my layout for documrntation. I document all of my work I do for others.
Photo 3 is the installed kit. One more of the hoop on my layot. Victor I am sorry it is "clunky", it was what was available when I bulit my layout more than 30 years ago. Date: 01/07/21 08:28 Re: Drawings of Train Order Stands Author: wabash2800 Dan:
No need for an apology. It's just clunky for my tastes. Victor A. Baird http://www.erstwhilepublications.com Date: 01/07/21 10:56 Re: Drawings of Train Order Stands Author: railstiesballast The last image is an excellent blend of backdrop and layout forests.
