Scale Speed indicators

Our club bought a pair of scale speed indicators and trying to figure out how to incorporate them onto the mall layout they came up with this display.
Creating a Lottery billboard which uses the speed indicator to show the lottery amount was rather ingenious.
So I fired up my Atlas RS-1 and cranked it up to see how fast it could actually run and I found out!

Seems a lot faster than the prototype.

Yep, maybe refitted with high speed traction motors Haha.
At least when I run the local I can definitely duck in and out of mainline traffic.
And on top of that it is my Rock Island RS-1 and we know they didn't run that fast.

That’s an ingenious way to display the speed.

Ran on a friends layout in Montana a few years back, he requires you run at scale speed and will tell you to. Found out also its much more fun than seeing Lionel speed trains his layout is also made so you have to follow your train around. He has two paces which have speed readouts and allows you to set the throttle that way.  Bob nice deal as dont know many who use them but would be nice on the club layout I run on at times. Boyd in Chiloquin where winter is still trying to arrive.

Two excellent solutions.  Both quite creative and informative.  Much better than a 'Plain Jane' DRO on the fascia.

Getting an Alco RS-1 to run that fast, I would be glad to sign the demerits.
