Model Railroading > Southern Auto Parts Boxcar

We all know that Tangent put out these top notch 86 foot auto parts boxes last year.  Here's a couple of views of my Southern car after it's been out on the rails for a while.  I've got one that's lettered for Conrail as well, but haven't weathered it yet, so it stays in the cupboard.

Mully -  I don't use chalks at all.  I used my airbrush only to fade the original paint colour.  Everything else is done by hand with different artist type brushes.  Thanks for asking.

Thinking oils and maybe some chalks? Some washes possibly too. Maybe Gouache  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gouache
Like the repaint panels and attention to rusting. Most likelygouache or oils for rust. Truck coloring is spot on as well. 
When you see a weathered car like this. It makes non weathered cars look out of place.

Thank you for looking in here.  However, I use no chalks at all, certainly no gouache although I've tried them in the past, and no commercially available washes either as I used thinned acrylics in areas such as the door edges.  And as for oils, well not exactly.  Rather, I use water mixable oil colours, which are acrylic. Nice tries on your guesses though. You have your methods, I have mine. I also used masking tape and Tamiya Flat.

Thanks kindly Matt - I think it's because of the lower angle of the camera.  The other 2 views show the rusted roof, and are more of the angle that the layout is normally viewed at when standing.  You can see more photos by clicking the blog link below.
