HO Brass Subassemblies
Author: glengui4294

Hello all,

I'm look for brass locomotive replacement parts, or more practically, subassemblies. Specifically, I'm looking for the powered driving wheel "bogies" like this loco has : https://www.brasstrains.com/Classic/Product/Detail/030174/HO-Gem-Baldwin-2-4-4-2-Mallet

I'm new to the world of brass trains. Is there any way to get bits and pieces of a loco without purchasing the whole thing?

The only other thing I can think of is waiting for something to appear on eBay that's just "for parts". Sorry if this is a dumb or lazy question.

Because brass is a limited run, though castings for detail parts are sometimes available, what you are looking for isn't, to my knowledge. Sometimes basket case engines for parts are available on the "big auction site", however.

Drivers are available from Greenway. If you're looking for the entire cylinder, subframe, diver, and siderod assembly, it might be easier to look at one of the 0-4-0 switchers as a donor. Sometimes you'll find parts from damaged locomotives available on eBay and other places, but I'm not aware of anyone producing something like that as a commercially available part - the market just isn't big enough to support it.

Good luck!
