Model Railroading > Any Rapido Amtrak Horizon Coaches out there?

I have tried all the usual suspects for two Rapido Amtrak Horizon COACHES in Phase VI (6) without any luck. I couldn't pre-order account my D&RGW Helper, Utah, pike had to first digest Rapido's entire Ski Train roster. I will take any road number #'s including unnumbered(s) (the numbers are tiny anyhow). All I can find are dinettes-a-plenty. Any TOs know of a source, maybe in an out-of-the-way "fly-over" B&M shop somewhere? Thanks in advance!

Scale Trains eschews dealers and prefers to deal directly with customers. Unfortunately, that means if if you didn't preorder them directly, your chances of finding them are very slim.

You are correct. That is my mistake.

However, the way the model train industry is, the fact you have to preorder anything you want still stands.

I believe I saw some on the shelf in the model railroad department of Ace Hardware in Berkeley, CA a few days ago. Not my thing, so I'm afraid I didn't pay much attention. 

There are some phase IV out there on the internet if you want to swap out the Amtrak on the end. Not sure if that is the only difference.

Yeah, they went fast and my pre-order was 'lost' during the sale of the hobby shop I ordered from.  It did help my wallet this month, but I guess I'll be scrouning around for spares on the internet at some point down the track.

I always remembered it as Bezerkly too, from watching the Vietnam war riots on the evening news as a kid.

And the auction site just started posting them, for nearly twice what they went for. I guess I should have gotten more to turn a profit. :-o

That sucks.  I was afraid that might happen.  Jason should have PM's you so you had a chance.

GOOD NEWS! Rapido just told me that [due to their rabid popularity] there will be another run of the Horizon cars some time after 2021. I spent yesterday calling about half of the Rapido's dealer list not to find a single Phase 6 coach...I stopped when I realize how much the phone bill will be next month!!! Oh well, I always planned to "mark-off" with my credit cards maxed-out, the dirty dishes left in the sink and the phone bill overdue! 

Glad they are planning more. I know that's one concern with Rapido is the not always re-running of stuff. Now that they are a popular company, need to keep re-running some items as people may have missed them the first time around. Even if it was just a few weeks ago. 

I've certainly gotten in the habbit of pre-orders. Kind of on the fence for some items, but only way to get stuff it seems like, even if you're not sure at first.

Tooling may be paid for, but the cost of the labor to run it keeps raising.

While the Rapido cars are incredible, another option might be the upcoming Walthers cars?   Right now showing Aug 2021 delivery.. At least to tide you over til another run of Rapido is released? 

I may try finding a few Rapido Phase IV cars and removing the lettering, adding a thin red stripe at the bottom of the car to create a VI (IVb) car with the travelmark logo.
