Model Railroading > Belmont Shore Railroad club Member and N traker passes.Date: 03/05/21 11:33 Belmont Shore Railroad club Member and N traker passes. Author: czuleget The N-Scale community is saddened by the loss of Mr. Jerry Schamahorn who passed away on Jan. 2, 2021. Jerry was an original, long time member of the Belmont Shore Railroad Club (BSRC) in Southern California. Jerry, along with Ben Davis, Chuck Short, and Dana Zimmerli, were the four pioneers who built the original NTRAK module that was displayed at the San Diego NMRA convention in 1974. During that time Jerry also served as President, and subsequently as Treasurer, of the BSRC. Jerry’s attention to detail and love of scratch building structures — City Hall, Union Station and several of the high-rise buildings — contributed greatly to the downtown area of the club layout and still stand today. Jerry’s daughter Janell, who has fond memories of growing up with her father and his passion for trains, has graciously donated Jerry’s 1974 NMRA San Diego Silver Gate Convention N-Scale boxcar to be displayed on the original module that resides with the BSRC. “Memories from a different era. In preparation for the San Diego NMRA in 1974, I remember going to Huntington Beach – Ben Davis’ house – to build NTRAK modules. Jerry was always there,” wrote BSRC President Dana W Zimmerli. “Jerry’s contributions live on at the club … RIP Jerry, you will be remembered.” Jerry will be missed by all who knew him.
