Model Railroading > Is this an indication of a short?Date: 03/29/21 16:47 Is this an indication of a short? Author: TEEKAY The MRC Prodigy just buzzes when I turn it on, the lights flash between Link & Pilot, and the screen either says "oVLd" or "Svda"
I was using plastor the other day and it was wet...so wonder if it leaked onto the tracks... Date: 03/29/21 17:07 Re: Is this an indication of a short? Author: ChrisCampi Disconnect one of the track leads to separate the base unit from the track. That will tell you which side has a problem.

Well I guess off to YouTube to figure out what to do Date: 03/29/21 17:18 Re: Is this an indication of a short? Author: ChrisCampi Doesn't matter which wire you disconnect, you've broken the circuit either way. You've got a short in your track somewhere, our you've got to many loco's/equipment drawing power. You may be right with the plaster not having dried completely yet.

Edit to say this is a good time to consider a circuit breaker. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/29/21 17:25 by ChrisCampi. Date: 03/29/21 17:30 Re: Is this an indication of a short? I'll keep my eye on it Date: 03/30/21 08:12 Re: Is this an indication of a short? Author: funnelfan Use a multimeter to see if there is a short. Should be seeing resistance of at least 1000 ohms.
