Model Railroading > BLI GP20 with Road Specific Details

I just saw an announcement from BLI about a GP20 with road specific details for ATSF, SP, UP, BN, CB&Q, Conrail, NYC, and EMD Demo. They have the new Paragon 4 decoder that features a built in GoPack (keep alive circuit), individually controlled lights among other upgrades.

I'm curious about that small tank on the top edge of the fuel tank below the main reservoir. What was that for? I see it on some of the prototype images;

Sock style fuel filter

And it comes with the choice of 3 different horn sounds! ...........seems a little restrictive these days. But, atleast its a GP20.

Nice looking models!

On the SP unit, horns were off to the side and looks to have cold weather box on rear hood area that SP didn't have.

The horn was located towards the engineer's side of the cab roof on the SSW GP20s, it was on the centerline on the SP units.  And some of the higher-numbered SP units had a winterization hatch.  But is does appear the majority did not.  Still, it's nice to see BLI joining the detail-appropriate bandwagon.

I'm interested in a Southern Pacific unit BUT I know nothing about Broadways decoders I would appreciate some comments on them before I order.   Many thanks in advance.      I'm a long time TCS man.

This one is brand new. I doubt anyone has experience with them yet. The others were poor, and I hope BLI has got it right this time with the Paragon 4.

Southern Pacific bought the four EMD demonstrator GP20's. Those four were built with winterization hatches. SP did not remove the hatches. Production GP20's for SP and SSW did not have the winterization hatches.

Are they offering a version without sound and DCC for those of us who want neither?

Just plan on replacing it with a proven decoder. The board is full of BLI horror storries and decoder issues.

That Southern Pacific GP20 looks like it is a model of one that got into a wreck that bent its frame.

Looks like the body is not seated on the frame. Because the fuel tank looks straight.

Oops, the Santa Fe unit is in the same shape.
