Odd note in instruction manual for bridge kit
Author: WrongWayMurphy

I am building this Central Valley truss bridge kit.  It is a very well detailed
model and so far fun yet challenging to build.  The instruction sheets are not
clear in some instances and leave a lot to interpretation, but fortunately there is
help on-line with u-tube videos.

The oddity is circled here.  One wonders if they know there are errors, why not just fix them?
After all, this kit was first made available in the 80's.

"...may be....errors..."
"May is also used to express possibility."  not certainty.

Sounds like they got an earful in the past and are CTA.

You mean building in my lap while watching TV is not a good idea?

I seem to vaguely recall seeing a passage like this from time to time in older instructions, etc. Probably because they were made at a time without computers, where editing and reissuing was more cumbersome.

That excuse NEVER worked on any of my English teachers.

I'm also laughing, I thought I might be the only person still attempting to complete this kit that I bought 30+ years ago!

I once sent a message to a company that makes small arbor presses, because they rated it at 1,000 PSI instead of 1,000 POUNDS.  They thanked me with a free t-shirt, but last I looked had not changed the instruction sheet.

Anything written that long ago would at least be free of the current-day "literally" virus.

I have as well. I learned that with just a little judicious trimming and filing, these can be made much stronger by doubling up the steel strips. It's just ordinary steel banding material and duplicate pieces can be cut from straight scrap banding with tin snips. By making the slots slightly wider, two strips will slide in together, which makes the bridge much stiffer without being noticeable.

Manual says built to specs it should hold 18 lbs - that should be sturdy enough for me !

As long as you're not trying to run three Hobbytown of Boston or Cary Locomotive Works diecast units you should be fine!
