correct sound for Babyface Baldwin
Author: jburek

I have an A-B set(Overland Brass) of Baldwin DR4-4-15 Babyface units I'd like to put sound in.   I understand that the prototype made a unique low RPM sound.   Question I have is does anyone(TCS, LokSound, Sountraxx)  make a sound file to fit this specific model of locomotive type??   I'm curious to hear some opinions out there.  I think these companies have sonud files that are better than the competition in many cases & I know the ear is a very individual thing.  Would still like to hear what people think.  I believe these units were turbocharged.

Yes on the turbocharged (supercharged). My vague memories of the CNJ units (and I even went in the engine compartment once) was burbling, like other Baldwins.

ESU has both a 6-608SC and 8-608SC sound files for the V5 decoders.

If you want to hear real CNJ Baldwin "babyfaces" John Pechulis Media has great DVD's  wiith lots of Baldwin action. Volume 5 has a three unit set working the Highbridge Branch.

That is an excellent DVD on the rarely covered High Bridge Branch, but I think John dubs in the sound from ????

Was going to make the same point. It's dubbed and synchronized very well, but the sounds you hear were not produced by the engines you're seeing.
