SP GP40M-2 7297

I've always loved these little 4 axle SP geeps with the odd seriff nose lettering.    I believe only 6 or so GP40M-2's had it applied.  This SP 7297 started life as an undecorated Atlas GP40.  I added fuel tank details, roof details, custom ditch lights, Rapido rotary beacon, and prototypical truck details for 1995 era.  Paint is Scalecoat 2 and decals are Microscale.  Enjoy!

I agree with you these looked very nice in their SP paint.   Your product looks equally good.   Very well done.

Looking good! You mentioned the Rapido beacon, are they selling them separately now? They said they were at some point, the ones with the 4 LED's in them.

Yes they are, I just ordered on from them and lost the amber lens 30 seconds after I opened the package. Its kinda cool. You can hook it up to straight 12 volt or down to 5 volts with no difference in performance. At 3 volts it still works the same but has dimmer lights.

The GP-40 looks great, you did a great job. Is that Scalecoat II SP Dark Gray straight or mixed? Its a great color.

SP bloody nose with standard lettering always looked good to me.

Very nice work and photos, the black anti-skid on the nose and walkways also gives it a distinct look.

Great job - love the "late" specific details for those: late AC unit, non-standard (for SP) antenna, tall ditch lights.

Excellent model, I do like that variation on the nose lettering too.

Really nice work.

I really liked the variation of nose lettering to the rebuilds.

Brings back good memories of seeing these units on locals and work trains.

Nice modeling sir. Have you ever seen the Aaron Heineken electronics rotary beacon for models such as yours? They are really convincing. In case you haven't. Thanks for sharing the model
