Accurail 2-Bay ACF Hopper
Author: funnelfan

I'm a sucker for kits, so had to have the new Accurail ACF 2-bay hopper kit. I purchased this kit from Valley Trains and Models in Spokane last week and assembled it last night. I dressed it up with some air lines between the reservoir and triple valve, ACI labels, cut levers, brake hoses, Kadee couplers and Intermountain wheels. Just need to paint the details and weather it. I did have to add 1/4 ounce of weight along with the metal wheels to bring it up to NMRA weight of 3.5 ounces. The kit comes with screws for the trucks and couplers, but I found the truck screws too long. I traded the 3/16" long screws in the kit for 1/8" screws so I could get the trucks a bit tighter so they didn't wobble as much.

Going to weather it like some cars that made it into the mid 1980's

I just built 4 of these for my "modernized" Lehigh & New England. Photos to come. Still waiting for the Erie-Lackawanna one, which has been backordered for some time.

Nice-looking layout runner. Do any of the brass etching wizards offer a suitable end cage and roof furniture?

TED...I tooalso believe in the Accurail kits, they go together well and are easy to build as what you did, more detail never hurts...
