Model Railroading > Bold infrastructure on the Texas & Gulf with tri-color signalsDate: 10/16/21 13:16 Bold infrastructure on the Texas & Gulf with tri-color signals Author: WrongWayMurphy The Texas & Gulf has embarked on a infrastructure improvement, a signal installation program
with three color signals patterned after those still in use on the UP Corsicana Subdivision, an ex-Cotton Belt Route in East Texas. Four of these were built and installed recently, protecting about 60 ft. of upper deck trackage. Logic is also patterned after that on the Cotton Belt with yellow LED lamp lit when no trains present (pic 1), green LED lit when warrant issued for forward movement (pic 2), and red LED when either a train passes the signal or train approaching the opposite direction. The signals will also protect the ballast train whenever it arrives, if it ever arrives at all. Signals are interesting. My entire mainline scales out to about a mile and a half so hard to justify much. Same as operating a layout with full DCC and sound, hard to go back afterwards.
