Do you like SP passenger trains, but don't have the space for...
Author: RuleG

Do you like Southern Pacific passenger trains, but do not have a layout large enough to accommodate the Sunset Limited, Cascade, Coast Daylight or City of San Francisco?  Check out this image of a three-car Overland with a single PA posted in today's Nostalgia Board.

Rapido Trains is producing an HO-scale model of a scarlet and grey PA with the SP details like that shown in the photo.  I will leave it to others to suggest models for the passenger cars.

Found this compilation.  I think I read this a million times as a kid.

Thank you for sharing.  I have the Model Railroaders with all of these articles, except for one.  I do not recall seeing the article focusing on the pike-sized steam locomotives.  The Santa Fe Grand Canyon, N & W Banner Blue and CPR Atlantic are my favorites,

Another pike-sized train article not in the compilation included SP 201/202, a Sacramento - Tehama local.  This train consist was a Daylight-painted PA and a single Harriman coach.

Over the years, I have posted in the Model Railroad board about pike-sized passenger trains,  particularly when someone else would post an image of a short passenger train which I thought would make an interesting prototype.
