Model Railroading > Scaletrains aquires Fox Valley Models

SXT just made a post on Facebook stating that they have aquired Fox Valley Models. I guess this addresses the website goof from last week. Hopefully they bring an update HO GP60 to the table!

Fox Valley had a lot of nice N scale stuff.  My concern is this may slow down some releases I'd like to see such as D&RGW and the standard SP SD45.

No. He already works in product development for ScaleTrains.

I'm happy to see this, at least it gets the FVM stuff back in production. I do very much like their N scale locomotives, hopefully they'll be good runners with factory sound now.

In a way, not really a surprise.  When I've checked Fox Valley, mostly it's past productions stuff.  I've noticed not much new being offered.

He owns, Des Plains Hobbies.

I chose Fox Valley when it came time to buy an HO B&O wagontop boxcar because I wanted to support the "little guy" and IMO it's just as good as the competition's.

Well, a ScaleTrains GP60 would be welcome!

It seems Scaletrains is buying up any small time dealers they can to boost product line yet taking forever to produce anything such as with MTH.  Probably biting off more than they can chew financially and operationally.

Some have said the SDL39s we're from the math acquisition. Reportedly MTH was going to make them.

That is blatantly false.  The SDL39 was well into development before the MTH deal was nearing completion.

Ok. Anyway I'm hoping ScaleTrains does more SD45s and tunnel motors.

I'm glad ST looks like they are planning to be around for a long time as some companies are 'aging' and people are moving on. While it seems like they can financially handle it, it certainly does appear operationally there are struggles for sure. I know shipping, manufacturing may be part to blame of late, but I'm thinking they just need another factory or producer of products. Sounds easier than I'm sure it is to make happen. I too look forward to many new products, but 2, 3, 5+ years for stuff is a bit frustrating for sure.

I'm not sure how it seems they can financially handle it.  That is a good portion of the reason they aren't producing MTH items yet I hear.
